Baden-Württemberg Stipendium “Work Immersion Study Program” (WISP)

Program History

About WISP

Cultural Vistas partners with the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung and the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) to offer the Baden-Württemberg Stipendium “Work Immersion Study Program” (WISP) exclusively to students at community colleges. WISP is a 3-month work / study immersion program in Germany that provides participants with the unique opportunity to gain practical work experience in their career field, improve their German language skills, and experience German culture firsthand. The program runs from June through August.

Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM / Baden-Württemberg Stiftung

Generous financial support for WISP is provided by the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM, a Baden-Württemberg Stiftung program. The Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM provides financial support for about 1,000 foreign students each year to study in Baden-Württemberg and to participate in programs such as WISP. By supporting students and young professionals participating in international exchanges, the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM hopes to foster international understanding.

The non-profit Baden-Württemberg Stiftung is one of the largest foundations in Germany. It is the only significant foundation that — with an extraordinary diverse range of topics — continually, impartially and exclusively invests in the future of Baden-Württemberg and, in doing so, in the future of its citizens.

Please visit the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung for information about their programs, as well as the Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM website for further information about this program.

Carl Duisberg Centrum, Radolfzell

Radolfzell is a small picture-perfect German town on Bodensee (Lake Constance) on the southern tip of Baden-Württemberg. The Carl Duisberg Centrum (CDC) is located right next to the city’s park with beautiful views of the old town. The school’s two dormitory buildings are a short walk to the language school. In addition to excellent language training, the CDC offers many activities to its international participants, including movie nights, round-table discussions, and Friday night parties.

The American Association of Teachers of German (AATG)

The AATG helped found the WISP program and continues to spread the word to community colleges around the country.
