Past Contests
In 2006, CDS hosted the first-ever My America contest which invited CDS participants on the U.S. State Department J-1 Visitor Exchange Program to submit a photo or written essay about their experiences in the U.S. Due to its great success, CDS hosted the contest again in 2007 and expanded it to its participants in Argentina, Germany, Russia, and Spain.
In both contests, paricipants were given complete freedom of expression—they addressed topics of politics, people, culture, the company where they were trained, and the town where they lived. Prominent figures in the government and media were invited to be judges. Originality of idea and unique insight into the their host country were two of several key criteria in the judging process.
